Gerber Profile Machines: Legacy Support, Upgrades & Replacement Options FAQ

Is Gerber still supporting the Profile machine?

No. Gerber stopped manufacturing the Profile several years ago and, as of late 2024, has discontinued all parts, service, and technical support. Customers were not formally notified—support simply ended.

Can I still get parts for my Gerber Profile?

Serviform America will officially end service and parts support for Gerber Profile machines as of December 31, 2025. The remaining parts in our inventory are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. While unfortunate, the reality is that we’ve reached the end of a sustainable era for the Gerber Profile.

My machine still works—do I really need to think about a replacement now?

Yes. Even if your Profile is running smoothly, transitioning to a new machine often takes 1–3 years. Between budgeting, approvals, and installation planning, it’s not a quick process. Getting ahead now ensures you’re prepared—not scrambling—when failure strikes.

What regular maintenance should I be doing to extend my machine’s life?

Routine maintenance can buy you time. Here’s what every operator should be doing:

  • Clean air filters in the electrical cabinet to prevent overheating
  • Lubricate linear travel bearings regularly
  • Keep lead screws clean (do not lubricate them)
  • Vacuum the machine—don’t just blow dust around
  • Mill the table flat to maintain precision cuts
  • Check electronics and log software versions

Neglecting these steps often leads to premature failure—and makes urgent transitions even harder.

What are signs my machine might be nearing failure?

  • Circles cut out of shape (oval or squished)
  • Distance between points is off
  • Inconsistent toolpath accuracy
  • Software compatibility issues with Windows 11 or newer
  • Lead screw backlash or worn bearings

These symptoms are especially serious when spare parts are no longer guaranteed.

I’m considering switching to another brand—what should I know?

Some general-purpose routers on the market may seem attractive, but they’re typically designed for applications like sign-making—not die making. These machines often lack essential features critical for to ensure accuracy in milling. They also can’t match the Diemilla when it comes to speed, falling short in the performance that die makers demand. In addition to superior cutting precision, the Diemilla offers advanced features like tool deflection compensation and more, all specifically engineered for die making. Beyond performance, long-term reliability matters. With the Diemilla, you’re not only investing in a machine purpose-built for die making—you’re also backed by our North American-based parts and service team, ensuring you get the support you need to keep production running smoothly.

What’s the best replacement for a Gerber Profile?

The Diemilla from Serviform America is purpose-built for diemaking. It’s fast, precise, and backed by full U.S.-based support. That means:

  • Reliable parts availability
  • Dedicated service technicians
  • Modern software with long-term compatibility
  • A machine made for your industry—not retrofitted for it

This isn’t just an upgrade—it’s a long-term solution designed for your business.

Can I still get help with my Profile machine today?

Yes. Serviform America is still providing on-site service and consultation through our technician team, including long-time Gerber expert Barry Gray. But time is limited!

What about BG Consulting, and how does that relate to Serviform America?

BG Consulting, founded by Barry Gray, joined forces with Serviform America in early 2024. This partnership ensures that Gerber Profile customers still have someone in their corner—with the tools, knowledge, and parts to support you.
