A Day in the Life of Parts Support

Sharon’s official title is Parts Support / Machine Logistics, and her job is as hands-on as it gets. “My role includes assisting customers with pricing and availability of parts needed for their machines, corresponding with the factory for parts identification and customer technical assistance, inventory reconciliation, and new machine logistics,” she explains.

Whether it’s tracking down a hard-to-find part or shipping a critical component overnight, Sharon is the connection between customers, technicians, and the factory in Italy.

A Process Built for Speed

“It’s important to us to respond to customer inquiries quickly,” Sharon says. “We know when a customer is facing down time or if they are running low on a part they commonly use, it can be stressful.”

The process starts with identifying what’s needed—sometimes that’s straightforward, and other times it requires technical drawings, photos, and expert input. “Working with the customer, factory, and technicians, we identify the parts needed as soon as possible,” she adds.

If the part is in stock at the North American warehouse, it’s processed immediately. “If the required parts must be ordered from the factory, we keep the customer updated on the lead time and shipping status so they are continually informed and not left guessing.”

The Power of a Local Warehouse

Serviform America’s local inventory is a game-changer. “We keep our warehouse stocked with hundreds of commonly requested parts,” Sharon says. “As such, we have many parts at our fingertips that we can ship out quickly to customers, many times the same day as we receive their purchase order.”

Avoiding Downtime with Speedy Service

“We understand that time is of the essence when a breakdown occurs,” Sharon notes. “This is one of the reasons we strive to keep essential equipment in stock at our warehouse here in North America.” In some cases, she’s arranged for parts to be delivered the next morning—even on a Saturday—to help customers avoid costly downtime.

How Part Identification Gets Done

Sometimes customers aren’t sure what they need—and that’s where Sharon shines. “If customers need assistance in identifying parts they need, we often ask them to send over photos,” she says. “Sending photos helps us to identify parts on technical drawings or by reviewing our current inventory.”

When that’s not enough, the technical team and factory are brought in. “We have a team of experienced technicians that we can speak with whose knowledge of these machines allows them to quickly identify parts most of the time.”
